Meghan Markle’s storyline over the past six months is one that’s sadly all too familiar to longtime royal watchers:

At first, the press and the public were madly in love with her, and then the romance started to sour.

There have been reports of Meghan breaching royal protocol and running afoul of the Queen.

There’s been talk of Meghan feuding with Kate Middleton.

Basically, the British tabloid press decided that it was easier to rag on Meghan than to continue singing her praises, and now they’re having a field day.

So it was only a matter of time before the media embraced the old “Meghan is a shrill harpy who makes life miserable for palace staff” narrative.

According to British tabloid The Mirror, Meghan’s assistant Melissa Toubati quit after several months of struggling in vain to make her demanding boss happy.

“Her job was highly pressurized and in the end, it became too much,” says a source close to the situation.

The insider adds that Toubati lasted just six months in the job and at one point was driven to tears by Meghan.

“She put up with quite a lot. Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears,” the source claims.

”She is hugely talented and played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding. She’ll be missed by everyone in the household.”

The insider adds that Toubati was a beloved member of the royal staff, and her departure came as a shock to many.

“Melissa is a total professional and fantastic at her job, but things came to a head and it was easier for them both to go their separate ways,”

The source adds that while Toubati’s departure was unequivocally a result of continual conflict with Meghan, no one in the royal family blames her for the episode, and most have come to accept her demanding nature.

“She is simply not afraid to express her opinion,” one insider claims.

“While many find her a little pushy there are many in the royal household who have quickly taken to her.”

It’s nice to hear the informant is rejecting the tired old narrative of successful women being dismissed as “difficult.”

But if this tipster turns on Meghan as fast as the British press did, it won’t be long before she’s singing a different tune.
